Westminster Interfaith Pilgrimage for Peace

SHOOT : Annual Multi-Faith Pilgrimage for Peace

The 26th Annual Multi-Faith Pilgrimage for Peace took place in Southall, west London on Saturday 11 June 2011. The Pilgrimage was sponsored by Westminster Interfaith, the agency of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster for Interreligious Dialogue.

Many religions were represented in the pilgrimage which passed by or entered different places of worship in this ‘Holy City’ including Christian churches, Mosques and Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh temples.

This year’s pilgrimage was a Peace walk to commemorate the first pilgrimage organised by Brother Daniel Faivre in 1986.

Jon Dal Din, Director of Westminster Interfaith explains: “The aim of Westminster Interfaith is to increase understanding, co-operation and respect between Christians and people of different faiths, and in particular to promote greater awareness through dialogue, prayer and action, according to the teaching of the Second Vatican Council.”
“I am grateful to all the people who came on the pilgrimage and prayed with us especially for all those, in this country and throughout the world, who are suffering on account of their race or religious beliefs.”
